When it comes to blockbuster first-person shooters, no title gets gamers as hyped (or polarized) as Call of Duty. With Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Treyarch is once again stepping into the fray with promises of revitalized gameplay, a grittier storyline, and a reimagined multiplayer experience. Does it live up to the hype? Let’s dive in and see if Black Ops 6 captures that thrilling COD magic or if it’s a little too close to the games we’ve played before.
Rating: 4/5
Treyarch has gone all out in Black Ops 6, promising a story that digs deeper into themes of espionage, betrayal, and war—but does it? The single-player campaign is set in a near-future world where political alliances are fractured, and covert operatives are carrying out missions that governments deny knowledge of. The plot hits with intensity, following an international team of operators tasked with hunting down rogue nations and cyber-terrorist cells bent on global destabilization.
The campaign offers a solid mix of high-octane action, stealth segments, and even a few mini-game challenges like hacking and puzzle-solving to keep the experience fresh. A new Tactical Overwatch System adds a layer of strategic decision-making, allowing players to make in-the-moment choices that affect the mission outcomes. This feature feels like a welcome addition—though at times, it does echo similar mechanics we’ve seen in other shooter franchises.
Visually, Black Ops 6 is a treat. The graphics engine shines, especially in scenes set in lush, densely populated urban centers and gritty, war-torn rural areas. Explosions and environmental destruction are impressively realistic, adding weight to the combat. The overall look is polished, though at times, frame rates can dip in particularly hectic firefights. Still, for those who love a good dose of cinematic realism, Treyarch has delivered.
While engaging and visually stunning, some parts of the campaign feel more like a remix of classic Black Ops moments than groundbreaking innovations. The new Tactical Overwatch System is an exciting addition. However, it’s the fast-paced action and cinematic storytelling that truly keep players hooked.
Campaign Rating: 4/5
Multiplayer is where Call of Duty traditionally shines, and Black Ops 6 has brought a slew of new maps, modes, and—thankfully—a few creative twists. Maps this time around range from expansive deserts and futuristic cityscapes to close-quarters industrial complexes. Arena Warfare is a new mode that pits players in intense, fast-paced skirmishes with unique loadouts and no respawns. It’s intense, it’s tactical, and it’s undoubtedly going to become a favorite for competitive players.
Treyarch brings a massive arsenal of customizable weapons, with every gun boasting different attachment possibilities that feel genuinely impactful. The Gunsmith feature has been taken to new levels, with more in-depth customization than ever. The trade-offs between attachments feel carefully balanced, encouraging players to experiment and tailor their loadouts to their play style. For those who love variety, the Field Upgrades and tactical abilities add even more room for personalization, though some of these abilities are locked behind grind-heavy challenges.
The standout in Black Ops 6’s multiplayer might just be the Special Ops mode, an objective-based experience allowing players to team up for challenging missions that change weekly. These missions incorporate stealth and coordination in a way we haven’t quite seen before in the Black Ops series, rewarding teamwork and strategy. Black Ops 6 also reinvigorates its Battle Royale mode, throwing players into a sprawling map with dynamic events, changing weather conditions, and a “last-man-standing” vibe that’s as intense as it is unpredictable.
Black Ops 6’s multiplayer is familiar, but it’s packed with fresh content that keeps it exciting. The new game modes, upgraded Gunsmith, and Special Ops missions create a highly entertaining experience. This game appeals to both casual players and competitive veterans.
Multiplayer Rating: 4.5/5
No Black Ops game is complete without the iconic Zombies mode, and Black Ops 6 brings it back in full force. Treyarch goes for a darker, more intense style in this installment, bringing players into chilling locations with genuinely creepy vibes.
In Black Ops 6, Zombies mode takes on a darker storyline that delves deeper into the supernatural, involving cults, undead warriors, and haunted locations. The narrative ties seamlessly into the game’s overall espionage theme, lending an unsettling sense of realism to the supernatural horrors. As usual, players face rounds of increasingly difficult zombie waves. This time, however, there are some exciting twists. Environmental challenges and “mini-boss” zombies add unpredictability to each round.
This year, Treyarch introduces Ritual Points, a currency earned by completing objectives and gathering specific artifacts. These points allow players to unlock new areas, power-ups, and The Undead Arsenal, a collection of weapons that deliver devastating power to keep the zombie hordes at bay. While Ritual Points add another layer of strategy, they do make the learning curve slightly steeper for newcomers.
Zombies mode in Black Ops 6 feels like a thrilling return to its horror roots, offering a fantastic evolution for the series. Dark, immersive environments and the new Ritual Points mechanic add fresh excitement to this fan-favorite mode. For both seasoned Black Ops veterans and zombie hunters, it’s a must-play.
Zombies Mode Rating: 4.5/5

The PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is mostly well-optimized, but it does come with a few hitches. On high-end setups, the game runs smoothly, maintaining a steady 60fps or more at ultra settings, but mid-range systems may see some frame drops, especially in graphically intense sequences or during large-scale multiplayer matches. The game offers a host of graphics settings for PC players to customize their experience, including ray tracing and DLSS support for NVIDIA users, which makes the game visually stunning without sacrificing frame rates.
While loading times are quick and matchmaking is relatively smooth, there have been some reports of connectivity issues in early multiplayer launches. Treyarch has acknowledged these concerns and has released a few patches to improve the experience, so hopefully, stability will continue to improve.
Overall Rating: 4/5
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 delivers a strong entry in the franchise. It blends familiar mechanics with bold new changes to keep the experience interesting. From the well-paced campaign to the adrenaline-pumping multiplayer and eerie Zombies mode, Black Ops 6 has something for everyone. Although the game doesn’t stray far from the classic COD formula, its attention to detail keeps it feeling fresh. Additions like the Tactical Overwatch System and Special Ops missions enhance the experience. For fans of the series or anyone seeking a polished, action-packed FPS, Black Ops 6 is definitely worth playing.
